Roller Derby Falls
Falling is part of playing roller derby. Players do things on skates that are challenging to do even when wearing sneakers! Players fall by getting knocked down, tripping, and slipping. Players learn and practice many types of falls to be able to safely react to different situations. Players still get injured even though they train and wear safety equipment suffering sprains, strains, scrapes, bruises, cuts, dislocations, broken bones, and concussions. Roller derby players train to fall forward and use the padding and protective gear. Below are is a slideshow of intentional and unintentional fall highlights from Aloha City Rollers games, scrimmages and practices.
